DAY 1: JOHANNESBURG TO HAZYVIEW VIA PANORAMA
Pick up from Johannesburg in the morning (07 am) and drive to the third deepest canyon in the world “Blyde River Canyon”.
This vast escarpment is the sort of place where brochures and guidebooks are bereft of expressive adjectives to describe the unsullied mountain scenery and magnificent panoramic views. Viewpoints overhang cliffs that rise 600m-800m from the riverbed. The canyon extends over twenty kilometres and we’ll stop at many breath-taking viewing points. Short walks are scheduled along precipices and longer hikes, if you’re up for it, wind through mountain rain forests teaming with exotic birds, rare flowering shrubs and towering, showering waterfalls. Stops and hikes at Three Rondavels, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Berlin Falls, God’s Window, Graskop Gorge and other spectacular viewing points are scheduled depending on time constraints.
